After a tough loss in the opening round of the MICDS Christmas Tournament to highly ranked Francis Howell, the Lady Tigers tightened up the defense and finally found some offense to win the consolation side of the bracket. The two wins against Villa Duchense and Troy Triad brings Oakville’s record back to 3-2 on the season. Senior Taylor Ventimiglia averaged 10 points a game for the Tournament providing a much needed second scoring option, something the Tigers were lacking before the Tournament began. Junior Alyssa Norberg was her steady self averaging 16 points and 9 rebounds during the tournament. After the first round loss though she really picked it up. In the consolation semi-finals she recorded her second double-double of the season scoring 10 points and collecting 16 rebounds (her season high). She saved her best for last in the consolation championship where she poured in a career high 27 points and added 9 rebounds for good measure.
The girls were supposed to continue their season Tuesday night against Seckman but snow has caused that game to be postponed. Friday night if weather permits the Oakville Lady Tigers will return to the court at home against a good Parkway South squad. Game time is scheduled for 7:00.
