The Aquatic Tigers have been hard at work this season and are 5-8 on the year, with a large number of new swimmers trying hard and improving each time they take the pool. Tiger standouts are Meg Heveroh (10), Allison Streb (12), Maddie Poertner (11) and Sarah Daues (11). These swimmers are all strong athletes and great teammates to match. Their leadership has helped to support the new swimmers and keep everyone’s spirits high and focus on improvement.
Meg has set two new school records; 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, and qualified for state in 3 individual events before braking her ankle. The medley relay has qualified with the consideration cut and is close to the qualifying time, so with hard work, they will likely be representing OHS at the state meet again this year. Two new swimmers, Jenna Frisella and Abby Alton have stepped up and swam on this relay (with Streb, Poertner and Daus) in Meg’s absence. The teamwork this season has been rewarding to be a part of.
The Suburban Red Conference swim meet was scheduled for Thursday 1/31 and Friday 2/1, but due to the weather and school closings, the meet will now be ran as a long one day event at Rockwood Summit on Friday, February 1, 2019. Good luck to these swimmers in their quest to PR and possibly qualify for state!
