Tigers News · Remaining Fall Sports to Get Underway Starting Next Week

Moderate Fall Sports to Start
Monday, September 28, 2020

As the new St. Louis County Health Department guidelines were released Wednesday, moderate frequency of contact sports can begin games on Monday, September 28, 2020!  This is great news for the teams of field hockey, boys soccer, softball and girls volleyball to be added to the low frequency of contact sports; cross country, girls golf, boys swim and girls tennis.

While it is great news that student athletes get to begin participating in these moderate sports, their are NEW GUIDELINES in play regarding spectators.  Please note the following;

  • St. Louis Suburban Conference Spectator Guidelines [please read]
  • NO Spectators at inside events during the week of Sept. 28 thru Oct. 4th – OHS will Live Stream volleyball games on the OHSTigersLiveStream YouTube Channel
  • LIMITED spectators at outdoor events, 2 spectators per student athlete and must wear face coverings and social distance at all times – vouchers will be given to each player to give to their spectators prior to game day (watch for information from your coach)
  • 50 person spectator MAXIMUM at outdoor events (which may limit the number of spectators per student athlete, per event)

We will be working on live streaming options for outdoors events over the next few days with more information to come from the coach.

Schedules will be made available from your coaches in the next few days and will be live on the www.OHSTigers website by the end of weekend.  Please know that these are in constant motion and are changing on the fly as athletic directors and officials assignors find referees to make these games happen.  Constant communication will come directly from your coach.

Football to be Played outside of St. Louis County
begins Friday, October 9, 2020

While the county is allowing moderate-frequency of contact sports to compete, high school football teams are still excluded from competition in St. Louis County. A few high schools in the county have announced they will play outside the county. Mehlville School District high schools will do so as well. Our first football games will be on Friday, October 9, 2020 vs. Mehlville High School at a site to be determined.  Student athletes and their parents will be required to sign a waiver of liability in order to participate. Completed and signed waivers are due Friday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. to your coach or the athletic office.

Oakville High School will follow any spectator guidelines in place at the location of their games.  Please continue to practice social distancing, wear face coverings, avoid large groups and wash your hands in order to reduce spread of the virus in the community.  Thank you for your continued support, patience and flexibility!  The ever changing landscape of this situation can be frustrating at times, together we can make these opportunities happen for our student athletes.  #tigerstogether
