Girls Varsity Softball · Senior Softball Players on a Role

The Fall Softball Season has been a roller coaster this season.  With the delayed start to the season, due to COVID and St. Louis County Health Department guidelines, the Tigers were in a holding pattern for a long time.  But finally in early September, Oakville got the green light to play games and were able to create a pretty solid schedule!  The Tigers will have played 13 games heading into the District Tournament this week.

Seniors Ella Strickland and Abby Alonzo have provided leadership on and off the field to make this season one for the books.  Good work ladies!

Ella Strickland broke the all-time Oakville Varsity Home Run Record this week by hitting career home runs #18 against Lafayette and #19 against Ursuline. The previous record was held by Amanda Fitzwilliam (2020) who had 17 career home runs. Through 8 games this season, Ella is hitting .452 with 7 home runs and 16 RBI’s in 8 games.

Abby Alonzo has also put together some incredible offensive stats this season as well. She is currently hitting .560 with 6 home runs, 3 doubles and 14 RBI’s. Against Parkway West this past Monday, October 5th Abby went 5-5 at the plate with 3 home runs, 2 doubles and 7 RBI’s. She also currently has a streak where she has reached base safely in 14 consecutive plate appearances including 10 hits and 3 walks.
