SPENSA Saturday—Giving Back
‘A great way to serve others’
All three levels of the Oakville Girls Soccer Program participated in SPENSA Saturday, 5/6/17 at Vianney High School due to the flooding at the Soccer Park. SPENSA Saturday has become a tradition of the Oakville Soccer Program. The Oakville players are paired with a Soccer Buddy to “play soccer.”
The Soccer Tigers interacted with their Soccer Buddies in a variety of ways. Some players worked on soccer techniques, some tried to keep up with their more energetic Soccer Buddy and some even danced an impressive Hokey Pokey.
The Oakville Soccer players have the opportunity to experience life lessons and see their passion and love for the game of soccer reflected in the excitement and joy of their Soccer Buddy. A good time was had by all!
SPENSA, The Special Needs Soccer Association, is a non-for-profit St. Louis based soccer program for young people with disabilties. SPENSA is designed to bring the excitement and fun of playing soccer to players who traditionally don’t have a place in the youth soccer program. SPENSA is free of charge to all of the players and is privately funded through generous donations by individuals and corporations. Parents, grandparents, guardians and the SPENSA organization are grateful to programs that donate their time.
